Commercial RED Team Reviews
A Commercial RED Team review is a peer-review process that can be applied to a variety of organisational and technical scenarios. It utilises a range of critical thinking techniques to aid decision-making, test assumptions, overcome biases and is a valuable aid to problem solving and decision making.
Aim
Commercial RED Team reviews are carried out by a team of senior procurement and management specialists from across the NICS at the behest of a Programme/Project team.
They offer a one-day assurance review of an aspect of a procurement or commercial decision.
It is intended for projects that are between Gateway stages that require assurance input to provide confidence that the project is on the correct course for its next stage gate.
Engagement
In the first instance you should contact DoF’s Commercial Delivery Group (CDG) to make the necessary arrangements. If the project is already engaged with the NI Independent Assurance Process (eg Gateway Review), then please contact your Departmental Assurance Coordinator.
The engagement process is designed to ensure that the Programme/Project team understands the extent and benefits of the Commercial RED Team review and is properly prepared to receive the review at the most beneficial point in the delivery lifecycle. A Commercial RED Team review may be repeated several times during the procurement and commercial decision-making phases of the Programme/Project.
Output
The Programme/Project team will receive a short report containing the recommendations of the Commercial RED Team. The recommendations are precise and succinct, designed to steer the Programme/Project in the right direction to achieve its goals.
