Response to the consultation on the proposed changes to the transitional arrangements to the 2015 schemes.
Date published:
The consultation on the proposed changes to the transitional arrangements to the 2015 schemes has now closed.
Detail of Outcome
The Department of Finance received 443 responses from individuals and organisations, including member representative bodies.
The consultation response provides further analysis of the responses received and detail regarding the Department of Finance’s approach to resolve the discrimination.
Having considered all responses, the Department of Finance proposes to proceed with the deferred choice underpin. This approach means all eligible members will receive a choice at the point of retirement whether to take legacy or reformed scheme benefits for the period between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2022, known as the remedy period. All public servants who continue in service from 1 April 2022 onwards will do so as members of their respective reformed scheme.
The Equality Screening document published alongside this response provides updated analysis of any potential impacts on s75 characteristics as a result of the policies.
An accompanying leaflet provides a high-level summary of the Department of Finance’s policies and who may be affected by them.
